Bulk Geotag Canon EOS Photos — Free Online

Most Canon bodies (R5, R6, 5D Mark IV) need a phone-paired GPS log via Canon Camera Connect — which often fails or drains battery. Bulk geotag in post: drag, drop, done in 60 seconds.

Supports: JPEG, HEIF, CR3 (RAW) • Bulk geotag JPEG/HEIF directly. For CR3 RAW, geotag the JPEG sidecar or convert via DPP first.

How to Bulk Geotag Canon Photos

    1. 1

      Import from your Canon EOS

Use EOS Utility, Canon Camera Connect, or a card reader to copy JPEG/HEIF files to your computer.

    2. 2

      Optional: load a GPX track

If you logged location with Canon Camera Connect, Strava, or a Garmin watch, export the GPX for many-location matching.

    3. 3

      Drop into Geo-Tag-It Bulk mode

Drag the folder, pick a single location or attach the GPX, and process.

    4. 4

      Download geotagged ZIP

GPS coordinates are embedded in EXIF. All Canon metadata (lens, picture style, focal length) is preserved.

    Built for Canon Shooters

Works with Canon EOS JPEG and HEIF out of camera
GPX sync from Canon Camera Connect, Strava, Garmin, Komoot
Preserves Canon EXIF (lens, picture style, focal length, AF point)
Bulk geotag entire shoots — events, weddings, real estate, travel
Free, browser-based — no DPP plugin or EOS Utility scripting
For CR3 RAW: geotag the JPEG sidecar or batch-convert in DPP first

Why Canon Shooters Geotag in Post

    Native GPS is unreliable

Canon bodies depend on phone-paired GPS logging that frequently disconnects, drains battery, or simply isn't enabled.

    Fix entire archives at once

Bulk geotag retroactively — apply a single shoot location to a wedding, or sync a GPX to a travel set.

    Zero quality loss

GPS is written into EXIF only. Image pixels are byte-for-byte untouched, so client deliverables stay pristine.

    Canon Bulk Geotagging FAQ

Do Canon EOS cameras have built-in GPS?

Most current bodies (R5, R6, R6 II) do not. Canon relies on the Camera Connect app to bridge GPS from your phone — but the connection drops often and many shooters skip it.

Can I bulk geotag Canon CR3 RAW files?

Geo-Tag-It writes EXIF GPS into JPEG and HEIF natively. For CR3, geotag the in-camera JPEG sidecar or convert CR3 to DNG/JPEG via Canon DPP first, then bulk geotag.

Is bulk geotagging better than Canon Camera Connect?

For reliability, yes. Camera Connect's GPS bridge fails often. Bulk geotagging in post always works and lets you fix entire archives at once.

Will this work with older Canon DSLRs like the 5D Mark III?

Yes. Any JPEG (or HEIF on newer bodies) from any Canon EOS — DSLR or mirrorless — can be bulk geotagged the same way.
