Common Garmin sync issues (and fixes)

My Garmin only exports FIT filesFIT is Garmin's native binary format and isn't supported directly by GPX Sync. Convert it to GPX first using a free tool like FitToGPX or GPSBabel — both keep the timestamps intact.

The track has gaps in tunnels or canyonsGPS signal drops are normal in dense terrain. Photos taken inside a gap may match the GPS point just before or after it. Increase the matching tolerance in GPX Sync to allow wider time gaps, or accept the nearest valid point.

My eTrex or older Garmin recorded local time, not UTCA few legacy Garmin units store local time in GPX files. If matches look exactly hours off, set the camera-clock-offset to your local timezone offset (e.g. -7 for PDT) — this aligns photo time to track time correctly.
